Recently, various Malaysian Islamic Organisations called to reject religious pluralism. That is to say that not all religions are equal - and Islam is the supreme religion.
Some suggested that Muslims should stop attending other religion's celebrations citing that this will threaten Islam as the supreme religion in Malaysia. But is this isolation and narrow-mindedness the threat to Islam or is it the willingness to share each other's joy the threat?
Some even suggested that Islam should stop having inter-faith discussions/forums as these are seen to put Islam on equal ground with other religion on the talking table. So now refusing to talk on equal grounds will make Islam great and supreme? I doubt that is what Prophet Muhammad had in his mind but I'm open to any Muslim reading this blog to correct me...
A lot of these religious scholars, Islam or Christian alike, read too much Quran or Bible that they need some time-off and read "common sense" and "logical thinking" in their spare time instead.
"It's true that in believing one's faith, one has to feel that his/her faith is superior compared to others. But that does not mean that other faiths should not be respected or be given equal treatment under the law. There's a difference between wanting your own faith to be strong, and wanting other faiths to be weak." -sL Dec 2010

Doing things we like and doing things that are important
It's important to do the things you like, but things we like to do may not necessarily be important.
Do the right thing: Place important things ahead of the things you like to do. It's call responsibility!

Blackjack and Marriage
"Marriage is like playing blackjack. Everyone wants 21. But you could only try to get as close as possible to 21, without busting." -sL

Allah must be laughing now...
Allah (whichever God you might refer to) must be laughing so hard now that His teeth is falling off from the sky in the form of meteor showers tonight.
I am pretty sure Allah can understand more than one language, so He must be bemused by the people who are worried that He could not understand you if you do not address Him in the right language. He must be even more bemused that some of His followers actually got confused when a different name is used to call Him.
I am neither Christian nor Muslim, but I am pretty sure that "what is the correct name to call Me" is the last priority for God's teachings. If it isn't, you should reconsider your religion because it sounds too damn easy to go to heaven.
Certain quarters of Christians and Muslims felt insulted. I think Allah aka Tuhan aka God should be the one that feels most insulted because of all His teachings passed down over the centuries, we were most concerned with what to call Him. I am sure this make a heck of a religion.
My mentor in high school once told me this, "There will always be problems in your life. A beggar and a businessman millionaire have the same number of problems. But the level of problems faced by these two people is what distinguished them. One is of higher stature, the other is not..." I cannot help but to think that this applies to religion too.
(in reference to the recent uproar by some Malaysian Muslims against the usage of 'Allah' by Christians to refer to the Christian God)

Respecting other people...
Religion is the worst thing that could happen to you if it doesn't teach you to respect other people's culture and beliefs.

About overthrowing government, protest and being angry...
The difference between our PM and Thai's...
And I quote from Kennysia's blog...
"One led angry people to protest and overthrow his previous government. The other overthrew Perak and made people so angry they protested."

Reaching stalemate...
Stalemate in PhD. Need to remind myself:
I'm an engineer, therefore...
Focus on extension of existing theories, not on new theories.
Work on applications of theories, not theory of applications.

Geniuses don't try.
Geniuses don't try. They just do.
If you are trying, you are not a genius.
That's why I am never one - I try too hard.

The perfect imperfections
I've watched this, not less than 10 times.
Every time, my eyes feel heavy. Every time, my tears urged to drop. But I held it.
It reminds of many things. Most importantly, it reminds me of my family. The quarrels we often had in the Chin's family is exactly like what the ad said, "in the end, it's this little small things that you remember. the little imperfections, that make them perfect, for you."
"...it was these imperfections, that reminds me that they are still here..."

The triumph of evil...
Dedicated to the fighters for freedom and democracy in Malaysia:

对爱的一点点感想。。。
当你发觉你最高兴的,并不是因为你拥抱着他,而是因为他得到了你的拥抱时,那么你可以肯定这份爱是值得珍惜的。
/////////////////////

trying your best...
God always work in mysterious ways...
If you prayed hard enough,
you might not get what you prayed for,
but you may get what is best for you.
So, as my dad always say, "Try your best, God will do the rest!"

Love...
Loving someone,
is not about giving the other what you think love is.
is about giving the other what the other think love is.
is not about giving the other what you think love is.
is about giving the other what the other think love is.
